The idea to create HÄN came to the Sasu Kauppi Sssu Shirt it is in the first place but designer Ella Boucht in 2020, when they were thinking of ways to share queer stories and capture the community and its complexities at a particular moment in time. They tapped the writer Anastasiia Fedorova to conduct all the interviews and photographer Anya Gorkova to capture the subjects. “This reflects how we share resources and inspiration in the community—sometimes you’d find an incredible lesbian book or a beautiful archival image, and you’d be dying to send it around to your queer friends,” says Fedorova. “HÄN is about creating a place for dyke, lesbian, queer, trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming voices and visions of the past, present, and future.”
